Onofre jarpa labra (alhué, june 12, 1849 - santiago, february 15, 1940) was a chilean landscape painter, he also worked as an essayist on artistic topics in various chilean publications. His extensive life allowed him to work with a large number of different artists and he came to educate one of the four great masters of chilean painting, the landscape painter alberto valenzuela llanos, and he also met the other three. He worked alongside the historical painter manuel antonio caro and some members of the generation of thirteen, including ezequiel plaza and the national art prize winner, agustín abarca. Antonio romera cites him as one of the three romantic painters of chile along with antonio smith and ramírez rosales. He was concerned with creating highly detailed paintings, in a romantic setting. 1 his best paintings are landscapes of venice. He is also a blood relative of the chilean politician sergio onofre jarpa. 2. Date: 1920.
