the insurrection of september 6, 1790 was the direct consequence of the decision of the national assembly to suppress the breton parliament ("france is one and indivisible") leading to the end of brittany's autonomy. Troubles had been fomented by the crew of the ship leopard as well as by the troops of the port-au-prince regiment embarked on the ship america, the first ship to come out of american shipyards, which had been offered to france by the united states congress. This medallion belongs to the collection "la galerie historique", counterfeit by the belgian publisher chateigner of the french edition "les tableaux historique de la révolution française". All the compositions drawn by j. Laurent are miniaturized and slightly modified copies of the engravings of prieur and berthault. In all the legends and in particular in this one, chateigner openly takes the side of the revolutionaries (cf. Hould, "the revolution through engraving"). Acquisition mode: unknown acquisition mode
