description:
endowed with a keen sense of observation, the painter endeavored to represent trees, grasses, flowers, birds, fish and insects associated with specific times of the year, according to a pictorial genre which shows the evolution of the landscape from one month to the next (tsukinami-e). This work is dedicated to the fifth month of the year. Straight large carp, two going to the left and one to the right, occupy almost the entire lower part of the scroll. At the top and bottom, some aquatic grasses are rendered using a soft green. Marks, inscriptions, hallmarks:
