Satire on the laying of the transatlantic telegraph cable, july 1866: grotesque figures of britannia and a native american, based on the famous "siamese twins", are joined by the "cable transatlantique" in the form of a strip of flesh joining their waists; britannia holds a trident and a shield labelled "albion", a bulldog at her feet; the native american brandishes a club, a barrel of tobacco at his feet; published in "le charivari". 1866 lithograph with hand-colouring.
