Ferenc deák kehidai (born antal ferenc deák, söjtör, october 17, 1803 – budapest, january 28, 1876) was a hungarian politician, lawyer, court judge, statesman, parliamentarian and minister of justice in the batthyány government. A decisive statesman in the reform era and dualism, he was given the title of "sage of the country" and "proctor of the nation". — the building referred to as the wenckheim house - which got its name from the wenckheim family who owned it between 1798 and 1873 - was home to several famous people: for example, mihály vörösmarty's daughter, ilona vörösmarty and her husband kálmán széll, sándor wachott and sándor petőfi lived here, and ferenc deák, the wise man of the country, who was named by the széll-vörösmarty couple, died in this house took him in his illness. Deák's memory is preserved by a plaque on the wall of house no. 2 in today's university square, on which the former building is listed as hadik house. (the hadiks were the owners of the house for only 6 years, between 1873-79. ) the dilapidated building was bought by count andrássy manó and his son géza in 1879 and demolished in 1896. Date: 1876.
