Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1943-11-09) letter no. 203 (1943-11-11) next letter (1943-11-20) in the field, november 11, 1943. My dearest mother! i'm sitting in my bunker again, thinking and writing of you. I've just come back from trench duty with my platoon leader and am now on light watch. I have the great advantage that i only go through the position once at night, while the other soldiers have to stand outside every two hours. The weather is still very nice, not at all cold. When it gets colder again, we'll get the thick winter clothes we had last winter. So you don't need to worry about that anymore! the food is also impeccable. Our old spear from the old unit sent us a leg of mutton which is now being roasted and tastes absolutely [amazing. ]. Date: 11 November 1943.
