A plaque on the frame carries the title fregatten jylland paa vagt ved den prøjsiske kyst ("the frigate jylland on guard at the prussian coast"). This is an elaboration on the original title, written on the back of the frame and quoted above. Whoever thought out the new title got it wrong. The frigate is not the jylland. The one in the painting is the only danish frigate with the funnel behind the main mast, the tordenskjold. That frigate started life as a pure sailing vessel, and was converted to steam in 1861-62. Andreas riis-carstensen served at tordenskjold i the war 1864, from february 1864. Object Type: painting. Date: between 1864 and 1906. Dimensions: height: 53 cm (20.8 in); width: 79 cm (31.1 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Andreas Riis Carstensen - Blokade på prøjsisk Kyst
