Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1942-12-31) letter no. 119 (1943-01-01) next letter (1943-01-05) envelope: front back text [there was: roast goose, 6 men, one goose, vegetables, sauce, potatoes and apricot compote for dessert, well what do you say] you're quite the big guy, aren't you? well, we enjoyed it and polished it all off. I had a lovely new year's eve with my comrades and, on request, had to sing a few viennese songs, so we sang and made music until the morning. There was plenty to drink, some of them were as blue as violets. I was just in the mood, i can't handle too much, so i'd rather not. Now the holidays are over and we are once again entering a new year. What will it bring? we all hope for the best. How did you spend new year's eve? i was thinking of you a lot! i'll end this new year's greeting with my warmest regards and kisses. Stay healthy! your hansl. Date: 1 January 1943.
