Scene from the story 'les lunettes' in jean de la fontaine, 'contes et nouvelles en vers'; in a convent, a hideous abbess seated at left inspects the nuns, who have their habits pulled up to the waist; in front of the abbess, a man masquerading as a nun is revealed, his erect member striking her on the nose, her eye-glasses flying up in the air; an amused nun falls back against a couch at right.
