Peter ernst rockstuhl (1764–1824): miniature portrait of lieutenant general józef zefiryn de witte (осип иванович витт). The sitter, son of the polish lieutenant general and architect jan de witte (1709–1785), was polish commander of kamianets-podilskyi from 1785 to 1789 and russian commander of kherson from 1792 to 1797. Married from 1779 to 1796 to the "beautiful bithynian" zofia glavani, later potocka (1760–1822), and from 1801 to karolina olga ostroróg (1784–1838), he was the father of the russian lieutenant general jan de witte (1781–1840) and of alexander de witte (1804–1875).
