A p&o liner; either 'tasmania' , 'chusan' (both 1884), 'coromandel' or 'bengal' (both 1885)
original art: drawing. Previously wrongly suggested to be the 'massilia' (which was twin-funnelled) but in fact one of the four ships named above. They were sisters, all three-masted, square-rigged on the fore with double topsail yards, single funnels, four sets of boats laid out as in this image, a small well deck forward, a single row of square ports, etc. The 'tasmania' sank in 1887 but the other three survived in the fleet until 1905-06. See also pae2096. Date: between 1885 and 1906. Dimensions: 265 mm x 214 mm. Collection: Fine art.
