View southwest through behind the broad gable to the broad east gable of the st. John's monastery church, which runs diagonally to the nave, around 1825 or 1829. Past the broad gable, behind the broad gable (also: behind the broad gable) bends slightly to the south-southwest. The monastery church belonged to the st. John's monastery, which count adolph iv of holstein from the house of schauenburg founded in 1236 as the dominican monastery of st. John (john the evangelist and john the baptist). In 1529 the dominican monastery was dissolved and the johanneum, founded in 1529, moved into part of the monastery. The homeless nuns of the herwardeshude (harvestehude) monastery also moved into parts of the monastery buildings in 1530/31 after converting to lutheranism, where they set up a lutheran women's convent. The monastery church became lutheran. The monastery buildings were demolished in 1840. Lithograph by peter suhr, around 1825 or 1829. Date: circa 1825.
