This photograph was used to illustrate the article "red cross" published in the thirteenth volume of the "military encyclopedia", which was published by the book publishing company of i. D. Sytin in 1913 in the capital of the russian empire, st. Petersburg. A more detailed description of this picture can be read in the article mentioned above. The original painting was painted by franz xaver winterhalter in 1857, then others made copies of it with various changes (backdrop, dress, etc. ) there is obviously a typographical error under the drawing; the artist is timofey andreevich neff. Date: before 1914.
