Teddy's hunting adventures in africa. Shooting pictures! this small comic strip booklet was designed by max wilhelm schaberschul, a painter, illustrator and cartoonist from dresden, saxony (1876-1940). Each plate is marked with the english title 'teddy's hunting adventures in africa' and the instruction 'apply match to star', followed by german 'roosevelt's jagdabenteuer in afrika' and 'man halte ein glühendes streichholz an den stern'. A star-shaped percussion cap produces a loud sound simulating a gunshot and a puff of smoke when lit. The plates feature former u. S. President theodore roosevelt on big game hunt, referring to the famous smithsonian-roosevelt african expedition of 1909/10. Date: 1910.
