Figures and dragons (inventories 25 and 26 form a couple). Paper, 246x118cm. Very poor condition, surface soiled, cracked and torn. During an exhibition, vandals traced graffiti with ballpoint pen. Requires to be reassembled and cleaned. No. 26 bears the date 1848. These two pieces together make up a monumental masterpiece; the violence and the bursting verve of the workmanship are underpinned by a complex and controlled composition. Superb calligraphy playing on several different registers of inks and graphics. Undeniably a peak in su renshan's art. Date: 1848.
