Major general, staff & line officers (undress, 1841-1850), plate xyiii, uniform of the army of the united states, illustrated, from 1774 to 1889. Washington, d. C. : quartermaster general of the army of the united states, 1890. Note: the artist h. A. Ogden created these color plates to document the uniforms of the american soldier from the revolution to 1888. Ogden received $100 for each completed illustration and ultimately completed 47 works. Here he illustrates us officers with an enlisted dragoon in the background from the mexican war era. Date: 1890.
