Return in the hague of most of the painting and prints collection of stadtholder prince william v of orange. The collection had been stolen from the stadtholders cabinet of paintings (gallery prince william v) by french troops in 1795. On the watercolor painting we see carriages with the art collection, under escort of troops, at the buitenhof square in the hague. The building in the front, left, is the noyelles house a. K. A. Vijverhof. To the right of the frame, the tower of the great or saint james church of the hague. To the left of the frame, a wind mill. The building far away in the background, with the pediment, is the saint sebastian archers building of the civic guard of the hague, currently housing the historical museum of the hague. Date: 1839.
