Verso on the stretcher frame two old stickers with inscriptions: "painted by josef hauber, munich" and "portrait of my grandfather jg zeller [or zeckler], founder of the business, 1806" (possibly johann georg zeller, paper manufacturer around 1800 in kempten). Date: circa 1800.
