225th birth anniversary of the russian painter orest kiprensky (1782–1836). Poor liza by orest kiprensky. 1827. The painting was inspired by nikolay karamzin’s novella poor liza (1792) that narrates about a young peasant girl, liza, who committed suicide, when her seducer, the nobleman erast, had cooled of her and then abandoned her for the sake of an old but rich widow. The stamp of russia, 7. 00 rubles, 2 march 2007, ptc marka catalogue no 1166, michel no 1398a, 1398c. Coated paper. Offset printing, varnish coating. Perforation: comb 11¾:12 (michel no 1398a), comb 13½ (michel no 1398c). Size of the stamp: 37×50 mm. Print run (total, of both varieties): 600,000. Object Type: painting.
