The Swan and Isabella, John Ward, circa 1830

The swan and isabella swan's (left) figurehead clearly visible. Stern view of isabella (right) the 'swan' was originally a royal naval sloop, built at plymouth in 1767 and entered the hull whaling fleet in 1824, where she sailed under the command of captain dring. The 'isabella' was launched on the river hull in 1813 and purchased in 1824 by thomas carlill for the northern whale fishery and by 1833 was under the command of r wallis humphreys.
