The naval flag of independent karelia (north karelian state, white sea karelia, arkhangelsk karelia), approved on march 29, 1920 at the congress of representatives of the volosts under the jurisdiction of the arkhangelsk karelian provisional government in the village of ukhta (now the urban-type settlement of kalevala). On may 18, 1920, the red army occupied ukhta, and the government of independent karelia fled first to voknavolok, and then to finland. The author of the flag is the finnish artist akseli gallen-kallela (1865-1931). Date: 29 March 1920.
