the immortal decorating the base of this oil lamp is winged, the immortals were in fact called yuren 羽人 "winged men". Characteristically, he has an emaciated face with high cheekbones, an aquiline nose and a pointed chin. It also has disproportionately long ears and eyebrows forming strongly defined arcs of circles. It rests on a base decorated with winged chimeras. The closely juxtaposed triangles of the lower register allow this lamp to be linked to a production in southern china. Iconographic description:
