My beloved mum! yesterday i got some lovely mail from you again. We have a bit of peace and quiet today, so i want to write to you right away. Yes, mum, i can imagine how you feel. Please don’t make this too difficult, millions of soldiers feel the same way i do today and there’s nothing we can do! now we’ve taken up a firm position on the dena, it’s a bit better there. The main thing is that we stay healthy and the war will soon be over! what do you say about italy? what will happen to poldi? i’m fine so far, i’m healthy.
