Aspertini sketch-book (so-called london i): 35th opening left (1898,1123. 3(34) verso) and right-hand page (1898,1123. 3(35) recto) with scenes from trajan's column: the suovetaurilia, roman sacrifice of a pig (sus in latin), a ram (ovis) and a bull (taurus) to the god mars to bless and purify land (upper part of opening); the head of a bearded man and the emperor trajan receiving barbarian captives (lower part of opening) c. 1535 pen and brown ink, brown over black chalk, the head of the man in red chalk only, on vellum.
