Fabrique de draps Lieutenant & Peltzer, Pepinster, 1850, circa 1920
Lithograph of the wool factory of lieutenant and petzer on the vesdre river in pépinster in belgium. Print taken from la belgique industrielle of 1850. Founded in 1815, it passed into the hands of lieutenant and peltzer of verviers in 1826. In 1921 jules and georges regout from maastricht took over the management. They had married sisters adrienne and jeanne lieutenant, daughters of alfred lieutenant. After a serious fire in 1939 and war damage in 40-44, the factory was largely rebuilt. In 1961 the factory was sold to a german investor. It closed in 1976 after which the buildings were rented to small businesses. In 2019 we see demolition despite the building being included on the list of industrial monuments worthy of conservation in wallonia. Date: circa 1920.
