Portrait print of french chemist, biologist and microbiologist louis pasteur (1822-1895) and his granddaughter camille vallery-radot (1880-1927). This print is based on a painting that was commissioned by jacob christian jacobsen (1811-1887), who was the director of the carlsberg breweries, and was intended as a gift for pasteur. The painting is after a photograph by ad. Braun & company. Pasteur is credited with discovering the principles of vaccination, microbial fermentation and pasteurization.
