Treasure hall, 1503-1506 - palazzo costabili, ferrara. The faces of the two sisters, beatrice (left) and isabella d'este (right), were recognized in the two spectators who, tenderly embraced, look out from the fresco. Since it dates back to the years 1503-1506, it would constitute a tribute from the este family to the now defunct joint venture. An identification that has been circulating for many years, supported by various historians and art critics who have recognized beatrice's small, round and pleasant face, albeit coiffed according to the mantuan fashion of the early sixteenth century and no longer with the typical coazzone; and isabella's face vaguely resembling titian's isabella in black.
