Family register page depicting the duel between göttingen math student jacob beyfuß and student bauer on march 13, 1816 in bovenden. The timpanists are wild people who do not belong to any fraternity. The other participants in the duel on beyfuß's side belong to the corps guestpahlia göttingen; those on bauer's side belong to the corps hannovera. All of the people depicted are known by name from family register entries and the university court records (from left to right): law student franz ludwig martin borsdorf, hoffmann, friedrich von ostman/or gerding (?) (second), beyfuß (timpanist on the left), nn, impartial, nn, bauer (timpanist on the right) and august görtz (second on the far right); thus four people are named but not precisely identified in the engraving, including apel and carl philipp gütschow. There are two versions of this family tree page: the basic version by besemann with vertically striped wallpaper and the version revised by riepenhausen after his death in 1818 with the now checkered wallpaper, which is shown above.
