An 1805 medal depicting the mayors of paris paying homage to napoleon at schoenbrunn after his victory over the austrians. His brother-in-law, marshal joachim murat, stands behind him while a representation of the city of schoenbrunn sits at their feet. Across the top it says "austria subdued" while the bottom says "the mayors of paris present their thanks to the emperor napoleon, returned victorious to the palace of the caesars". This is bramsen 454 which differs from 453 in that it has a figure of austria kneeling between the mayors and napoleon. The obverse depicts renommée (fame) blowing a trumpet and carrying a scroll marked "imp vrbi svae (from the emperor to his city)"; behind her are the spoils of war. Up above it says "from the germans". Underneath it says "the first fruits of the war, cannon and flags despoiled from the enemy at wertingen, given to the city of paris on october 1805". Bronze, 68mm.
