The stop of charles ii, king of england, at the country estate of wema aan de rotte during his journey from rotterdam to the hague, may 25, 1660; or (less likely) the halt of the advancing troops at the country estate of welna aan de amstel during prince william ii's attack on amsterdam, may 31-august 4, 1650. A long procession of horsemen is preceded by heralds and drummers. The population has flocked left and right to watch the spectacle. On the left a river with boats.
