True blue, Isaac Cruikshank, 1799

Beneath the title: 'the jolly tars of old england or all alive at portsmouth'. A coach, 'true blue', crowded outside and inside with jovial sailors and pretty young women, is driven by a negligent sailor, who sits between two women. The horses gallop (left to right); a sailor holding up a bottle and union jack sits on the off horse, facing the tail. A sailor stands on the roof playing a fiddle. 4 april 1799 etching with stipple.
