Mr. Blanchard's 14th Aerostatic Experiment, Louis Joseph Watteau

Mr. Blanchard's 14th Aerostatic Experiment, Louis Joseph Watteau

On august 26, 1785, mr. Blanchard made his fourteenth aerial voyage to lille; he was accompanied by the chevalier de lépinard, an intrepid amateur who shared his dangers and his triumph. Five days after their departure, these two aeronauts returned to lille to the sound of artillery and fanfares. Two paintings by louis watteau and two beautiful engravings by helman have preserved these facts which then had a considerable impact.
