A naval battle in 1782, in which a 44-gun english warship engages the flagship of a french squadron and a corvette; wood engraving for the story "a cruise in a tub. " once a week, volume 2, page 519. The story appears to be referring to the action of 12 december 1782, where the hms mediator (1782) captured the american/french corvette alexander and the french ship ménagère. [1]. Date: 1860.
