Portrait of bernard-charles bastide and joseph jausion. On the letter held by jausion: "list of witnesses. /teron /. . Azals. /brest. " (theron and brès are mentioned at the trial as prosecution witnesses, the first will retract before dying) the two defendants are the protagonists of a famous news item, the fualdès affair in rodez (1817). Convicted on questionable testimony and although claiming their innocence, they were executed in june 1818 for the murder of joseph-bernardin fualdès, prosecutor and magistrate under the revolution and the empire.
