Kálmán szily the elder of nagy-szigethi (izsák, june 29, 1838 – budapest, july 24, 1924) was a physicist, linguist, university teacher, scientific organizer, secretary general of the academy, then chief librarian. From 1880 to 1898, he was the president of the royal hungarian natural society and andor semsey (kassa, december 22, 1833 – budapest, august 14, 1923) was a large landowner, a member of the hungarian academy of sciences, a natural diver, and a patron of hungarian science.
