Cent print with 4 x 3 framed woodcuts, with images from the life of jan van speijk (1802-1831), at school, as a tailor and grutter and as a sailor. He becomes an officer, receives a medal, comes to shore (near antwerp) and explodes his ship. There are many deaths and injuries. A 'gravestone' has been erected in the orphanage. Contains four-line rhyming captions in dutch and two-line in french. Object Type: Catchpenny print. Date: between 1880 and 1935. Place of creation: Turnhout.
