57. Rebstock., Deutsch: um 1898

In issue 4, page 40, we have already reported on the "hof zum rebstock", which originally belonged to the noble weiss von limpurg family and later passed into the hands of various non-noble people. We have also already mentioned that the courtyard had three exits, to kruggasse, neugasse and to the market, which were previously closed but are now open. Next to the exit to neugasse is the long house no. 1, which we see in picture no. 57. It is the house in which the former kölsche'sche business, now kölsch nachfolger, has been operating for many years, selling mineral water, pickled cabbage and pickled cucumbers. The interesting building has two wooden galleries running one above the other, and is larger than any other house in frankfurt. The house used to belong to the father of the famous singer marchesi. The fact that friedrich stolze's birthplace is located in the rebstock neighborhood was already mentioned in the fourth issue. The house with the wooden railing belonged to mr. Graumann, from whom the graumänner in the frankfurt citizen militia took their name, and the daughter of the later famous singer f. Marchesi. Date: Deutsch: um 1898. Dimensions: reproduction: height: 21.3 cm (8.4 in); width: 16.1 cm (6.3 in), original: unknown. Medium: collotype print. Collection: Private collection Mylius.
