In the foreground are ruins of a classical temple - a broken column and a pedestal. Stairs lead up to a sepulchral monument and to an altar where a sacrifice is being conducted. In the distance are two free-standing monumental columns as well as a truncated pyramid crowned by a circular temple. The sheet is enlarged at the bottom and slightly laterally by an l. L. Who signed the original drawing. Date: mid-18th century. Dimensions: 27.9 x 22.5 cm (11 x 8 7/8 in.). Medium: black chalk, brown wash, cardboard, laid paper.
