Still life, mandore and citole, Giorgione, 1 January 1510

Image by giorgio barbarelli da castelfranco, known as the painter giorgione. The still life was reported by the image source to be painted in 1510. At that time the common round small lute was the mandore. The other instrument resembles the citole, an instrument that was probably extinct (or evolved/replaced) in the 16th century. "descendant" instruments of the citole possibly include the cittern and the guitar. Date: 1 January 1510.
