Georg balthasar probst (1732 in augsburg - 1801 in augsburg): prospectus exterius portae wilsche / external appearance of the wilschen thor. After bernardo bellotto, called canaletto (* 20 may 1722, according to other sources 30 january 1721 in venice; † 17 october 1780 in warsaw): the model was a corresponding etching from 1748 (wvz kozakiewicz 163). Colored copperplate peep-box sheet (old coloring). Size: 26. 8 x 40. 2 cm image (with decorative frame), 31. 9 x 42. 5 cm (plate), 34. 5 x 46. 5 cm (sheet). Titled in latin, french, italian and german below the image. Imperial privilege and publisher's address of georg balthasar probst in augsburg. Sheet no. 78 of the publisher's census. The ramparts and the moat with the wilsdruff town gate are shown. In the background you can see the hausmannsturm, the tower of the catholic court church, the zwinger and the opera house at the zwinger. Georg balthasar probst (also georg balthazar probst): german copper engraver and art publisher. From 1766 onwards, his publishing house produced a total of more than 400 peep-box sheets.
