In the 1870s, a sculpture committee was formed under the leadership of ádám lázár. The main goal of this committee was to erect a memorial column worthy of the székely martyrs (mihály gálffy from martonos, jános török from bágyi, károly horváth from nagyvárad, benedek dániel and lászló bertalan) who were executed in marosvásárhely on march 10, 1854 during the anti-habsburg uprising. The sculptor zsigmond aradi was commissioned to create it on august 10, 1873, and it was unveiled on june 27, 1875. Date: 1875.
