Obverse: carl friedr schinkel - born 13 maerz 1781 - died 9 oct 1841 [ae ligated]. Head of karl friedrich schinkel to the right. Below the neck section on the left the signature k fischer fec. Reverse: naked, winged genius leaning on a pillar stump, holding a plumb line in his right hand and a compass in his left. Above the head a star. On the left the kreuzberg monument, on the right a capital. In the section the medalist's signature. Comment: with this medal the medalist karl fischer created a metal monument to karl friedrich schinkel (1781-1841). The depiction on the reverse refers to his work as a master builder. As late as 1862 the medalist fischer had three silver medals struck on schinkel at the berlin mint. Literature: r. Ball, münze und medaille 7, 1927, no. 7182 a; a.
