Viewers might be surprised to discover that alfred, duke of saxe-coburg and gotha, commander of galatea, was not the only royal to visit australia in 1867-1868. Lieutenant fitzgeorge was the second son of hrh duke of cambridge and an actress, and a great grandson of george iii, and so was a second cousin to alfred, who was the second son of queen victoria. Fitzgeorge was not entitled to any royal prerogatives or titles. He became a rear admiral in the royal navy later. Wikipedia biography of fitzggeorge: en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/adolphus_fitzgeorge
