Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-04-18) letter no. 242 (1944-04-24) next letter (1944-04-25) envelope: front back text blankenburg 24. Iv. 44. My beloved mum! i would like to send you my warmest regards today. Thank you very much for the letter with the tax card and the data, i have forwarded it immediately. I don’t know how long this will take, you know what a “bureaucratic horse” there is in the army too. Well, let’s hope for the best. The planes are now near vienna again. I just keep hoping that the dogs will leave our beautiful city alone! as i said, we have a lot of alarm, but they leave us alone without being called. On saturday they were in braunschweig, we could hear the thunder and see the fires. If only this would end soon, the poor people. Date: 24 April 1944.
