Quebec seen from the louise basin
“this winter view of quebec from the louise basin is in line with the more intimate works of charles huot. In a stable composition, made of horizontals like the line of the water, the shore and the dufferin terrace, it highlights the boat being maneuvered by four men and the ferry which is preparing to dock on the shore. Lost in the fog and the blurred contours of the city, the château frontenac and the citadel are silhouetted in the distance. The movement is underlined by the tangible action of the sailors and the modern ship which emits thick smoke, as well as by the slow drift of the ice on the waters of the river. » – marc beaudoin, quebec historical society.
