"Eur Gannerez", Chanteuse Populaire en Basse-Bretagne, Émile Hamonic, before 1943

This card shows in action the most famous song seller, nicknamed "mari kastellin" (marie de chateaulin) because of her headdress. Her real name was marie-anne rolland, wife of jean le chalony, ragpicker (their marriage was dated june 3, 1879 in châteaulin). She was born in loqueffret on august 6, 1845 and exercised the official profession of fairground vendor. She lived in quimperlé but did not hesitate to push into trégor or pays bigouden to carry out her business. The date and place of her death are not known but she was still alive in 1914. The loose sheet she holds in her hands could be a set of three songs: chanson nevez war subject disput an eureujou/ chanson ar facteur/ chanson nevez - eur martolod betrayet gand e bried. The first song is authored by yves guillermic, also living in quimperlé and who it seems was the companion of mari kastellin. Date: before 1943.
