Procesión ante una ermita, Antonio Carnicero

The work represents a religious procession in front of a hermitage. The hermitage is located on a hill, to the right of the composition. The procession has left it and descends to the left, turning around in front of a stone cross to return to the right. It is made up of many women and men with candles, preceded by musicians, children and gentlemen. The main nucleus is formed by an image of the virgin carried on a litter, preceded by a group of notables with a banner and followed by a priest dressed in pontifical, a group under a canopy and the authorities. In the foreground, on the right, animals resting and grazing and, in the background, landscape and a series of hanging quilts or hangings that decorate the route. Object Type: painting.
