Homage to the statesman richard cobden; allegorical scene with his tombstone surmounted by an urn draped in a dark cloth, to the left britannia seated and leaning against the stone, a small crown on her hair, and holding two wreaths, with the union jack motif on her drapery, close to her a shield lettered "honni soit qui mal y pense" and figures of a lion and an unicorn, to right, the personification of france in drapery, standing and holding a wreath over the urn with her right hand and a wheat sheaf in her left hand, an eagle by her side, and in front another shield lettered "france"; to left in the distance, the masts of ships; published in 'panthéon des illustrations françaises au xixe siècle', 1869.
