Woodblock diptych print, oban tate-e. Scene from the kabuki play 'natsu matsuri'. The kabuki actor nakamura utaemon iv (left) as the half-naked and tattooed danshichi kurobei armed with a swrod, threatening onoe tamizo as giheiji, who has fallen backwards into mud.
