First Shell Fired At Howsatta's Village, William Barnes Wollen, 11 May 1889

The looshai expedition, sketched by lt. H. W. G. Cole first shell fired at howsatta's village (howsata) the lusei or lushai tribe is one of the major tribes in mizoram. From 1840 to 1895, the region saw a series of raids for slaves, loot and battles between many different tribes, as well as between british troops and individual tribes.
